To get a medium rigid (MR), or heavy rigid (HR) truck license, one must have held an open or provisional class C or LR licence or equivalent for 12 continuous months or more. Furthermore, you have to pay a Test Booking fee to the Qld Transport Department. The booking receipt is important and it should be retained as you will need the receipt number to make a Test Booking at Major Operator and Driver Training Service.

You must also be able to use a Road Ranger gearbox before you can attend the MC course or the Heavy Combination training.
